plus for the bigger boy, platforms they drop supported architecture after time, meaning, my gpus are keppler architecture which adobe has stoppted supporting for accelerated effects, and gpu hardware decode for timeline scrubbing of h.264\5. i think workflow will be to taxing on the system. Layer two, is unless your taking footage from a camera that is from the era of your computer, i feel even proxies will be too taxing to make, because proxies are a super compressed version of the 100% original. thats layer one you cant really upgrade it. and that is not your fault, you might not enjoy to build systems like the rest of us. IE the mobo, gpu, power supply, yes intel or amd made the cpu but the rest is non standard. modern platforms require more power just to function, and if you have a dell that means all the parts inside are non standard and proprietary. I truly think your going to have an incredibly tough time with any editing platform you choose on that machine. I would've preferred to use iMovie on my iPad but that wasn't compatible with 3rd party fonts. Im fully aware my hardware and OS isn't very good but im not looking to edit a Hollywood SciFi movie im just wanting splice up some MP4 footage, add some fonts and music.Įdit - after downloading about 6 different programs that failed to work (DaVinci, Olive, OpenShot, 2 different old versions of Windows Movie Maker, Kdenlive, Shotcut) I finally settled on VSDC and it seems ok so far. I am currently using a Dell XPS 420 running Windows 7 Pro with 4GB of RAM im not sure of the graphics card but it was top of the line when I purchased the PC new in 2008. Just wondering what the easiest to use free video editing softwares would be. I won't be requiring anything too complicated just a fairly simple program to edit/filter some MP4 file footage and add some text (OpenType or TrueType font files) and sync some music. I am soon going to be involved in editing videos for a friend's nightlife promotion company where I will be editing and cutting promo videos and recap videos for nightlife events.
